Located in the Village of Schiller Park, Illinois, Short Fuse Brewing Company opened in the middle of June of 2017 by husband and wife team Nick and Hillary Teague. The two found a building that housed a former forklift repair facility in Schiller Park, and very near O’Hare International Airport.

After a search for a brewmaster they found Mark Duchow, an award winning brewmaster who had good runs at a number of places in the Midwest including The Grumpy Troll in Mt. Horeb, WI , and at Sweet Mullets (now Brewfinity Brewing Company) in Oconomowoc, WI. and made him a partner. With the buildout of the 20,000 square foot building – with a 7500 sq. ft. tap room – Short Fuse Brewing Company opened.

Short Fuse craft their beer on a 30 barrel brewhouse and 30 barrel fermentors. We also will feature a large barrel program for aging beers. In addition, Short Fuse is one of a few breweries in Illinois to feature two 30 barrel foeders, the giant oak vat typically used to age wine. The main purpose of the foeders is to age sours and/or wild beers for on average 12-18 months.

The tap room at Short Fuse take up about 7,500 sq ft,and is one of the largest in Chicagoland. The bar is long and somewhat narrow, and goes about 2/3rd’s the length of the tap room.  Tall windows behind the bar allow patrons to look into the brewery operations.  The tap room had a definite modern industrial look to the place.  They feature 21+ beers on tap, that are all are made right on site.

The secret to our success? It’s quite simple, really. Three words: quality craft beer. It may not be simple to get our standard of beer, but for us, it’s second nature – it’s our passion – it’s kind of our thing. The difference is in our classic brewing style mixed with our own little creative flare; the result? A taste so crisp, bold, original, and, dare we say, explosive, you’ll have to taste it to believe it.
